Letting go of control is the most restful thing you will ever do.
Surrender is a word that makes achievers uncomfortable. It sounds like defeat. Like giving up. Like admitting you cannot handle something you have been insisting you can. But surrender, in the context of rest, is not weakness. It is the deepest form of strength.
Letting go of control. Letting go of outcomes. Letting go of the illusion that your hands are the only ones capable of holding everything together. That is not giving up on your life. It is giving up the lie that your life depends entirely on your effort.
The weight you are carrying, the anxiety about the future, the need to control every outcome, the pressure to have all the answers, that weight was never yours alone. Carrying it solo is not brave. It is unsustainable. And the longer you carry it, the more it costs you.
Surrender is what happens when you decide that being in control of everything is less important than being at peace with anything. It is the moment you trade the exhaustion of management for the rest of trust.
What are you holding onto today that is costing you your peace? What outcome are you trying to control that might resolve itself if you simply let go? Name it. Then try, even for one day, to release it and see what rest fills the space it leaves behind.
