Protect One Hour

Protect one hour this weekend. Not after everything else is done. Not once you have earned it. Now. Before the weekend fills up without your consent. Because the weekend will fill up. It always does. Unless you put a fence around something first.

One hour with no agenda, no productivity, and no guilt. That is the assignment. Sixty minutes that exist for no purpose other than your restoration. No phone. No screens. No obligations. Just you and whatever your body and mind need in that moment.

The word protect is deliberate. Not schedule. Not fit in. Protect. Because rest in an unprotected calendar is like a flower in an open field during a storm. It does not stand a chance. The demands will trample it. The urgency will overwhelm it. Only protection gives rest a chance to survive.

Think of it this way: you protect the things you value. You lock your car. You save your files. You put a case on your phone. If rest matters, it needs the same level of protection. Not more. The same. A non-negotiable boundary that signals to yourself and everyone else: this time is spoken for.

Block the hour. Label it "REST" in all caps. When someone asks to use that time, the answer is "I have a commitment." You do. The commitment is to yourself. And it is the most important one on your calendar this week.
