Official Permission Slip
Consider this your official permission slip. Permission to sleep in. Permission to cancel plans. Permission to do absolutely nothing and feel absolutely fine about it. Signed, sealed, and delivered by someone who knows that you have been waiting for this.
Permission to sleep in. Not until noon necessarily. But past the alarm. Past the conditioned wake-up time that your body does not actually need. If your body is asking for more sleep, give it more sleep. You do not need a reason. The body's request is the reason.
Permission to cancel. Not everything. But the thing you have been dreading. The obligation that drains more than it gives. The plan that sounded good when you made it but sounds exhausting now. Cancel it. And do not replace it with a different obligation. Replace it with space.
Permission to do nothing. Not productive-nothing. Not scrolling-nothing. Nothing-nothing. Stare at the ceiling. Sit in the yard. Listen to silence. Let boredom arrive and do not panic when it does. Boredom is not a problem to solve. It is a space to inhabit.
Permission is a funny thing. You do not actually need it from anyone. Not from this page. Not from your boss. Not from your partner. But sometimes hearing it from outside yourself makes it easier to grant it from within. So hear it: you have permission. Now use it.
