The summer is almost over. And before the reflection window closes and the fall pace takes over, I have one question. Not a productivity question. Not a goals question. A rest question.
What did rest teach you this summer?
Not what did you accomplish. Not what goals did you hit. Not what did productivity teach you about efficiency, time management, or output optimization. What did REST teach you? About yourself. About what you actually need. About who you are when you stop performing.
Maybe rest taught you that you are more tired than you realized. That the exhaustion went deeper than you wanted to admit. Maybe rest taught you that silence is not empty, that in the quiet you discovered a version of yourself you had forgotten existed. Maybe rest taught you that the world does not collapse when you take your hands off the wheel.
Or maybe rest taught you something harder: that you do not know how to rest. That stillness makes you anxious. That you have been running for so long that stopping feels dangerous. That is a lesson too. A hard one. But a necessary one.
Drop one thing. Just one thing that rest taught you this summer. The community needs to hear it. And saying it out loud is how you make sure you carry the lesson into fall instead of leaving it behind with the summer.
