The Fuel, Not the Finish Line

If you wait until everything is complete to rest, you will never rest. Rest is not the finish line. It is the fuel. The thing that powers the run, not the ribbon you cross at the end of it.

The list will never be empty. The work will never be done. The responsibilities will never fully resolve. This is not a problem to solve. It is a condition to accept. And once you accept it, the only rational response is to rest in the middle of the incompletion.

Rest as fuel means you do not earn it through completion. You take it as preparation. You rest in order to work, not after you have finished working. The fuel goes in before the journey, not after the destination has been reached.

Think of rest the way a pilot thinks of fuel. No pilot would say "I will refuel when I reach the destination." The fuel IS what gets you to the destination. Running the tank dry to prove your dedication is not brave. It is reckless. And it puts everyone on the plane at risk.

Rest is the fuel in your tank. When it runs out, you do not just slow down. You crash. And the crash does not just affect you. It affects everyone depending on you to arrive safely. Rest now. Not as a reward. As an investment. As fuel for what is ahead.
