Enough Is Enough

There is a voice, and you know the one I mean, that says you have not done enough. It does not matter what you accomplished today. It does not matter how many boxes you checked or fires you put out or people you helped. The voice says more. Always more.

The inbox agrees. There are seventeen unread messages and three of them have the word urgent in the subject line. The to-do list agrees. It somehow grew by four items even though you crossed off six. The comparison trap agrees. Someone on the internet did more than you today and made it look effortless.

But enough is enough. Not because you finished everything. You did not. You will not. The work is infinite and your time is finite and the gap between them will never close no matter how hard you hustle. Enough is enough because YOU are enough. Your value is not determined by the completion of an infinite list.

Say it out loud: I have done enough today. Not I did everything. Not I finished the list. I did enough. Let that be sufficient. Let that be worthy of rest. Let the remaining items exist on the list overnight without your guilt accompanying them.

You have done enough today. Tomorrow you will do more. But tonight, you rest. Not because everything is handled. Because you are worth handling, too.
