If It Is Not on Your Calendar
If rest is not on your calendar, it is not real. It is a wish. A hope. An intention that will be steamrolled by the first urgent request that shows up. Unscheduled rest is vulnerable rest. And vulnerable rest loses every time.
This week, block thirty minutes on your calendar. Label it REST. Not "maybe rest." Not "rest if nothing comes up." REST. In all caps. Non-negotiable. Treat it with the same respect you would give a meeting with your most important client. Because the client is you.
The reason most people fail at rest is not lack of desire. It is lack of structure. They want to rest. They believe in rest. They agree with every post about rest. But they do not put it on the calendar. And what is not on the calendar does not happen.
Your calendar is a reflection of your priorities. Look at it right now. Where is rest? If it is not there, that tells you something important about where rest actually ranks, regardless of where you say it ranks. The gap between what you say matters and what your calendar shows matters is the gap between intention and reality.
Close that gap this week. Thirty minutes. Blocked. Protected. Sacred. It is not much. But it is a start. And starts matter more than plans ever will.
